Along with its sister projects of the webkit build (iPhone and Android UIs) and Gmail plugins, the SkedulMe Outlook module is easily the most essential product for the core business users and their administrators for using the SkedulMe conferencing software.
The Problem
Considering that the vast majority of the business world runs on some flavor of Outlook, it was the first and most important piece to get absolutely right. But scheduling and conference calls are surprisingly complex beasts to tame, and distilling them to their most basic elements was essential to getting this right. And since Outlook represented the 800 lb gorilla that would need to tamed in conferencing jiu jitsu, we figured it was the most logical place to start.
The Process
During the course of the project’s gestation I worked directly with management and engineering to define the nature of the interface, how we might pare scheduling of a conference call down as close to one click as possible.
