This identity came to me by way of a print rep with whom I have had a long successful working relationship… The project was for collateral (business cards, letterhead and a basic menu) for a restaurant specializing in traditionally American fare with a gourmet spin. A fairly novel concept at the time, dishes would feature traditional meals such as Mac n’ Cheese made with fresh pasta and a range of fine cheeses such as gouda or camembert.
The only rub was the logo was set in stone… a label maker style font on a red label background. Not a bad concept, harkening to childhood and kid’s label makers but it wasn’t the easiest thing to work with as it tended to skew the whole grown up attitude of the concept.
Still, a little retro modern flair, some fun colors and classic typography and it turned out quite well!
