I’ve worked with long-time client ShipCompliant on a great number of web based apps and UI projects, so it was only natural that they would come to me to help build out their streamlined online wine license purchasing tool.
The Problem
While they have since tucked this tool under the ShipCompliant umbrella brand, the original mandate was that it have only hints of the parent brand. I worked directly with the teams to better define and refine the functional parameters and goals for the site respectively. The overarching challenge, however, was to create a simple and quick way for winery operators to obtain the necessary licenses for a large number of available ship-to states as well as renew already purchased licenses all in one fell swoop.
The Process
Working, as always, with management, marketing and the in-house team of developers, I developed a very straight forward and largely linear process that provided a great deal of accessible assistance and cues for the user to both understand the language and the process and easily and naturally progress through the purchase process.
The Solution
The final design has proven to be quite lasting and popular enough that ShipCompliant have had to fend off a number of rivals who have attempted to effectively lift the design to create a competitive product. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? Anyway, its been a great tool to not only serve its basic initial use model, but to give users a gateway and conversion into the larger suite of ShipCompliant tools. And the small branding details evidently worked out great because it was able to be seamless tucked back under the parent ShipCompliant website without any fitment issues.
